I was very overwhelmed when I first began this assignment. I had trouble getting my blog started and I am still not 100% sure it is up and running correctly. As I began my assignment I was not totally sure what a Matrix was and I created several different styles before I decided to go with the traditional table for the sake of space and set-up.
Learning about the various learning skills was very interesting and will be very helpful when planning a lesson. There are several different ways that may be beneficial to students considering not all students learn the same. I think being in a classroom with diverse learning students can pose as a challenge for teachers but having some knowledge of different learning styles and activities to incorporate each in the classroom will help the teacher and student tremendously. I look forward to working with various programs this semester and begin building a resource file of useful websites and information. https://mcpss-my.sharepoint.com/:p:/p/kwilson1/EZBYYE6WHJxCkpAlxDm02_YBclTXDQIg0U7_-Cjw4sc1Sw?e=EgieJn
Kari, your blog looks great! I know it can be overwhelming, but you did a really good job! You are right no all students learn the same, and this matrix will be so useful when teaching all different learning styles! Your matrix looks great! Good work with this assignment.

Hi there! I was right there with you struggling to create this blog. I actually had to completely delete my blog and create a new one because my post wouldn’t show up for some reason. I was beyond stressing! However, we both figured it out in the end, so props to us, I say. π
I really appreciate what you said about the importance of being knowledgeable of and implementing various learning styles into coursework so that all students have the opportunity to learn. For example, I would always struggle in classes in which the teacher only spoke aloud as we took notes, because I am a more visual learning. It’s important to include activities that allow more hands-on engagement for the students who need it, as well as opportunities to collaborate and connect with their classmates, since teamwork is such an important skill. Incorporating the various learning styles into your lesson plan can aid in this. Great post!

Hi Kari. I also had a hard time creating my blog account, but yours is up and running like it should. I hope mine is too. Yes utilizing these different learning theories can help tremendously will you have an extremely diverse class. Because as we know that every student learns in different ways and paces. However, I cannot access your learning theory matrix, but I bet you did a great job!

Knowing these theories and how they can be used with technology makes me so excited to think about lesson planning! I am not yet a teacher – in fact my background is not even in education – so this is all very new to me. I was dreading the upcoming lesson plan assignments in other classes, but I feel like I am much more ready to complete them! I agree that classrooms have diverse learning climates, and I can only imagine how challenging it can be for many educators! I think that these theories, used alone or collaboratively can really make an impact on students’ learning and comprehension of a topic!

Kari,
I felt the same way when I read that we had to setup a blog. I have not setup a blog in many years. It took me a couple of hours to begin the first steps of my profile, but once I got the hang of it became easier to manipulate. I want to compliment you on your matrix. It is clean and precise. I used a similar format for mine on Word.
I like the different activities you listed on your matrix.
As a kindergarten teacher, I use Starfall often to introduce letters and sounds to my students. We also use Starfall as a resource for decodable readers. My students love Starfall because it is interactive and virtual. It is also user friendly for younger students. I have heard that Flipgrid is an awesome app to use to introduce new material to students. I have never used it but I would love to learn more about it and implement it in my classroom. I have used Kahoot a couple of times at a professional development, but never with my students. I am excited about enhancing my knowledge of technology and the opportunities to bring new uses for technology in my classroom.
